OVERVIEW

Medial Collateral Ligament (MCL) Tear

Common injuries are MCL tears. The MCL can be injured or stretched if there is a lot of pressure on the outside of your knee. The signs and symptoms of knee pain include swelling and pain in the inner side. ACL injury and medial meniscal tears can occur in severe trauma. This is most common during football. First, you need to rest, ice and elevation. Then bracing and rehabilitation are necessary. Surgery may be required for severe tears.
